Sometimes when I floor it, the transmission makes a loud noise when going from 2nd to 3rd. It is like a "wha wha wha" type of sound and then it goes into gear. Basically, it is the engine reving more than it has to. It happened when I had a tranny leak and it usually happened when the tranny fluid was really low. Do you think it is just because the fluid was low or is it something more than that. I had the transmission rebuilt less than two years ago and when I got my leaks fixed, the mechanic thought it was rebuilt 2 months ago. It only happened when I floored the gas pedal and there are no other problems when there is normal driving.

Ya I did check the fluid, it was really low. That is when I took it to be fixed the leak. The transmission lines were bad and I had the gasket replaced. They said there was no metal scraps in it. I can't really see if the problem is still there because It is in the process of getting painted.

gearnofear, if the clutch packs are the problem, can I just get them replaced or do I have to get it rebuilt again?

Even if there are not metal shavings in the oil that doesn't mean the clutch packs aren't shot. Running the transmission low of fluid will cause this and will tare up the clutch packs in the transmission. I would not risk it and baby the transmission until you can have it gone though again. When you have it rebuilt have them put and RV kit in it. The RV kits hold up better under abusive conditions like you are putting yours under. Also change the converter to give you a little bit higher stall speed. This will allow your transmission to lock the converter up at a high RPM then the stock converter allowing you to have more power at your launch.

I would not be flooring it when you are having a transmission problem. If you have a leak, take it to the transmission repair shop and get it checked out. In future, I would suggest getting new equipment and not rebuilt equipment.

i would venture to say gear slippage but i don't know. DID you CHECK the tranny fluid level at all instead of just wondering about it ?
