Hey just be up front and casual and say in kind of a kidding way (since I'm assuming you're friends too) "Hey you chew really loud, I can hear you from here." And when he responds just say something like "Try breathing through your nose when you eat and keeping your mouth closed." Keep a smile on your face and the casual tone so he doesn't think you're trying to start a fight.
He probably had no idea and knowing will make him insecure about it and want to change.

don't stab him as you will regret it and go to jail. Sit down and explain to him how annoying it is I understand as one of the guys i work with who I love like a son does that I've told him and he usually eats away from others as he says he can't help it. sometimes people with sinus problems do that as they can't breathe when they are chewing and some people are just rude either way talk to him and if no solution just don't be around him when he eats as I know it is VERY annoying

Tie his jaws closed. When he gets hungry enough, you can give him the conditions for removal. And tell him to chew with his mouth closed.

OR...
you can tell him politely, there is nothing to be scared of to tell the truth.. if he gets mad that means he is childish and doesn't respect you.. that's the time you can stab him in his jaw..
OR..
you can tell if he keeps on doing that, he will never find a date.. *well, if he does it has to be a deaf one* try to point out that you are telling him for his own good.. that will make you look good plus you get what you want.. ^^

lol....lol...a man after my own heart. If you guys live together you just got to tell him straight out. Dude I cant be in the same room with you if your going to eat like that. Plain and simple. I tell ALL men I date if they do this the first time we go out to eat together. I just say to them that I cant stand hearing those noises and would not be able to date them if they didn't stop. They all stopped.

My dad eats loud and it is really annoying. Tell him to chew quieter.
