Firstly, this is in no way meant to offend. But I hear many people say that pronouncing italian like I-talian, its offensive. The same with arab, when pronounced A-rab. Why is that?

Because when you say I-talian and A-rab, it sounds like you are mocking them. Thats why it is offensive.

Usually the person speaking in such a way hasn't taken the time to learn to speak a foreign lanuage correctly. It is usually regarded as disrespectful and the person as an ignoramus.

I think it's because those who pronounce those words that way have become stereotyped as being individuals who disdain them and their cultures. It historically is an affected way of pronounciation and is usually derogatory.

Its not meant to offend, but it is part of an accent.
