No, I believe they cut themselves because first of all it can be a sense of relief for them and it is a cry for help!! But instead of just asking foe HELP, which they may have but did not get what they needed so they may turn to cutting!!!! It is sad but they are very emotional people who may be going through things that they can not handle and not getting to talk about what's really going on with them. Yes you could say well everyone goes through things in there life and it doesn't mean you have to do something like that to get help!!!! You could say that, but then your not in there shoes!!! Big question: how many people really ask for help when they really needed it, instead of just trying to deal with it on there own? Well most people do believe that they can deal it ANYTHING on there own, but really everyone needs help sometimes and it's okay to ask for help!!! Which i think this could be why some people will start cutting, they think they can't get help or maybe they think no one cares and that is what's so sad!!! They believe no one cares and that doesn't make them feel good, so sometimes cutting could feel good to someone like that if they don't even know what feeling good really feels like!!!! But it doesn't mean they are crazy, NO and it is sad that help can say that because what if it was you? Cutting was the only thing that made you feel better, would you call yourself cray...I don't think so!!!!!!! These people need help so instaed of just saying they are crazy maybe if you know someone who is sad a lot you could help them and be there for them so they feel better about themselves and don't try to do anything like this to themselves!!! But no way are they crazy, they just need someone to be there for them, they also need to feel loved!!!!!!! They need help and support

Some people are thrill seekers some people desire pain for pleasure and yes some are deeply disturbed but cutting themselves doesn't necessarily mean they are crazy but it is a rather significant warning sign of a more troublesome issue. The person may need to confess or share some feelings and hopefully the person they open up to will be able to reach them. I would say it is a cry for help if they want to admit or not I recommend an honest assessment of their thoughts and how or what makes them feel this way and why?

Cutters are not crazy but they do need help. It is a defense mechanism called "turning against the self." It relieves the pain of whatever stress or shame or guilt they are feeling unconsiously. Cutters are usually depressed and are in need of treatment by a mental health therapist. But don't cite these answers for your essay. Do the research.

No, not if crazy here means insane. They're often calling for help and/or seeking relief from mental pain. Physical pain can be a distraction or even relief from all kinds of mental pain. Some folks have become deadened or numb and need some kind of relief from this too. Pain is a choice for this sometimes. They're not crazy, they simply need some kind of help and support.

No. They are stressed and have low-self esteem. They probably are undergoing depression. Maybe like feeling ignored, abused, hatrid towards themselves etc. They also sometimes want to feel the pain because mentally it makes them feel better. Some of these cases also led to suicide, homicide, and other issues.

There could be several factors for self-mutilation. Depression, stress, low self-esteem, neglect, a feeling to be recognized, and several more I'm sure. No matter what their reason is, one thing is for certain, they DO NEED the help of a professional.

Not crazy... exactly what is the definition of crazy? You would have to define that first. I think that they are at a point of severe depression.

People vent in many forms, although inflicting pain upon self, is a form of mental illness.

yes, but it's because they are depressed, and they think that cutting themselves is the only way they can feel.
