Imagine you are an animal (because we all are).

1) You go swimming in the water and it is full of bacteria and poisons, and your skin soaks this up.

2) You drink the water, and again it is full of poisons and your insides get full of "bad stuff".

3) You eat a fish, and the fish drank the poisons and he passes it on to you because it is all collected in his body.

4) If you were an animal that could ONLY eat plants found around lakes and rivers, but the plants died because the lakes or rivers were so polluted, you would then starve to death because you have no more plants to eat.

That's putting it pretty simply, but accurately I think.

Ok think of it as this lets compare it to the air we breathe and the environment...Is all polluted ....if an abundant amount of pollution is in one place the living things around it get polluted as well or should i say "intoxicated" and that is how they can end up dead. yup there goes ur answer =} glad i could help.

Fishes and other creatures that live in the water are breathing in dirty water with bacteria in it. It's just like us, humans, if we breathe in polluted air for a long while, our lungs loose the way it functions, because it got too dirty, and our heart fails because of the dirty oxygen that comes into our bodies.

It gets into the water and they drink it...even people get higher levels of not so great things in their blood from their drinking water, even if it goes through a plant that purifies it... Most of us probably have too much of something, be it from pesticides, Teflon, or anything else that gets in our waters.
