The Acer 3692 sounds like the better buy.
395 is a great price for a laptop.
Same spec in a Toshiba cost me 1099 euro.

If you prefer speed go for the memory and the 3692, if you would rather have more songs go for the hard drive space and the 3662.

First, the RAM. The 3662 has 512mb of memory compared to the 3692's 1024mb. Memory size directly affects speed of the overall system, especially when running multiple programs. The 3692 won't be twice as fast, but it would definitely be noticeably faster. But if all you will be doing is surfing the net and listening to music then 512 should be enough.

Next, the GB. Your hard drive will directly affect how many songs you can hold. A general rule of thumb is to only fill a hard drive to 60% of its capacity to keep it running the very best it can. And we can assume that most songs are 4mb each. (1gb=1000mb)
The 3662 has 80gb * 60% is 48gb which is about 12,000 songs.
The 3692 has 60gb * 60% is 36gb which is about 9,000 songs.

Personally, I don't think I'll ever have more than 9,000 songs, so I would take the 3692 because it will be faster. But only you can know what is best for you.

If you are really only going to use it for surfing the web and playing music choose hard drive space (GB) over RAM (Acer 3662)

If you are ever going to be playing games or multi-tasking with a lot of programs at once go RAM over disc space (GB) (Accer 3692.)

Remember portable, external hard drives are only about $1/GB (often even less now) so your RAM might be a better value down the road, in order to upgrade ram you have to open the laptop, voiding warranty, or pay a bunch of money to upgrade.

hi Rita, save on Ebay for a sparkling, older inventory HP/Lenovo with XP living house or XP professional operating device, and with provider %. 2 put in. ward off all VISTA ! Too sluggish, source hog, too buggy. do not purchase a sparkling Dell, as they are in hassle chucking up the sponge to HP/Lenovo. verify the present tech and monetary information first. pcs are more cost-effective once you've the table area and do not want portability. also they are less severe priced and more convenient to improve. I ran a pc provider agency earlier; now retired. Peace and progression !

go with the Aspire 3662WLMi Laptop you wont be able to tell the ram difference if ur not into graphics or playing games, meanwhile you sound like an audiophile,so therefore if i were u i wud go for the bigger hard disk as i can store my mp3's.The audio quality difference is negligible

Go with the 3662, it's more up to date.
