The owners and managers at the top need to wake up and look at the shape of their franchises! They are always dirty, look un kept and the food is going down hill fast and has been for a while.. don't they care?

Because of various laws, franchisers have little control over franchisees (McDonald's is an exception, as they often own the building itself and rent it to the franchisee, which means they have a say in it) - in fact the courts ruled on all of this, striking down the ability of several companies to control their franchisees, and upholding McDonald's, once again because McDonald's owns many of the actual restaurant buildings. The only thing the franchisers are required to do is buy the rights to use the name (for a specific area), etc.

Dairy Queen & Pizza Hut Franchise owners have corporate headquarters by their kneeknees... there is one franchise that literally prevents other locations from coming into the county cause that was in the deal long, long ago. They operate an old, old building no food just ice cream. They look ok, but it's still seriously run down looking and the restrooms are gross.

Pizza Hut, the buildings are seriously old, dirty is mild word... I'd say filthy and the restrooms are gross. They use to have some of the best pizza, but then they went crazy with their menu and instead of getting better, it's terrible. The management use to be so neat, clean and that is the way both the employees and building operated. But not anymore, like the person who talked about the butt scratcher... that happened to us too but it was worse he decided to stick his hands in his pants to adjust things and try to tuck in a shirt that way, way too small, the girls picked their face and kept scratch their scalp while putting boxes together. And the employees were disagreeing with eachother while the phone rung, and rung while no one bothered to answer. Not one of them bother to hit the sink and wash their hands. We complain and the manager was like so... the floors were dirty, building dusty and the vents throughout the buildings were gross. But to add they overpriced themselves right out of being competive.

I can go to an italian or greek restaurant and have really good food, excellant pizza and such a nice atmosphere. Someone mention it was the help... being paid low wages... well I think it's a matter of pride and the way your taught to do your job. Sloppy management creates room for sloopy employees. Nothing turns me off to see the staff sitting outside the place their suppose to be working, all smoking. Management is only as good as the weakest manager and employee. Before wage earners were looked out for by their employers but now large corporations only care about their black line and that is why you have so many bad chain locations.

I don't know why Pepsi-co is not keeping up on their Pizza Hut's. As for Dairy Queen, they are not owned by the chain so, it is up to their owners to keep them up.

The problem is finding employees who have common sense and actually care about the work they do. You would not believe how hard it is to find people who meet these qulifications. I worked in fast food management for nearly 4 years and that is my answer.
