A twelve month old should be started on homogenized milk (if not still breastfeeding) unless otherwise told by your doctor.

If you mean organic vs. non organic milk, I do believe organic is best-no growth hormones injected into the cow. Some people think that girls are developing and hitting puberty earlier because of the hormones in regular milk. But if you live in the boonies like me, organic milk is very hard to come by! Just make sure it's pasteurized. But I doubt any grocery stores sell non-pasteurized now in days!

If he or she is not breastfeeding, they can start drinking cow's milk at this age; however, you need to be on the lookout for potential milk allergies. Not everyone can tolerate cow's milk. The question of organic or "the other stuff," I'm assuming you mean non-organic. I would definitely choose organic whenever possible. Also, make sure it's whole milk, babies under 2 need the fat in whole milk for proper myelination (brain development).

Cow's milk is actually no good for children under the age of 2 because of potential allergies. If you are not breastfeeding, goats milk is the next best thing when it comes to nutrients. It costs a little bit more, but it is so much better for your baby. Hope this helps.
