now I'm wondering if I should have picked her up because I'm wondering who DID pick her up. should i have? Would you have? (assuming you would not have hurt her either.) I almost feel a little guilty that behind me along came a guy in a pickup truck or something and then no telling what happened. Should I care or just forget about it?

Pick her up, good question, these days nobody picks up hitch hikers due to the safety thing. Could have had someone else waiting on the side of the road for you? I would go with safety

almost surely no longer. I considered an advert the different day that claimed that the final person alternatives up 6 hitch hikers of their existence. i don't be attentive to of a unmarried person who has ever picked up a hitch hiker! That suggested nevertheless, there is not any longer lots of a 'custom' of hitch trekking the place i'm from, according to risk in usa or someplace there is so lots extra of it occurring.

I think in that case it would have been best to have called the cops and let them handle it. But if I did not have a cell phone with me then I might have carried her somewhere a lot safer than the side of the road if she had car trouble or something(and I believed her and her story), but if she was running away from home then I would not pick her up and the first phone I could find I would call the police because they definetly need to get involved in that.

If you had another female in the car it would have been ok but if you where alone, NO. If you would have picked her up. Even if you did nothing to her she could have said anything to get you in deep. I honestly think you did the right thing. You are also a good person to think of the safety and welfare of others. The world today has made it very difficult to help people who need help. In the future, the best thing to do would be to contact emergency services and have the Highway patrol or local police come and check to see if they are fine or need assistance. Good call in my opinion.
