Any tips on what to expect?

The best thing to do is work the beginning snowboard muscles. You pick your self up a lot so work your triceps, chest, back, butt (cause you'll fall on it) and thigh muscles as much as you can. Skiing and snowboarding aren't the same thing at all and it's important that you know that. Snowboarding is harder to learn but easier to maintain the skill of than skiing. So keep at it, take lessons from a person you like, friends are best, especially patient ones that have been snowboarding a long time. You'll fall alot and you will be in serious pain the next day. Don't try to go up on big hills until you're completely comfortable with the bunny hill. And lastly, just go out and have fun. Snowboarding is all about fun.

Taking a lesson on snowboarding is really a great idea. The instructors really know what they are talking about. And honestly, having prior skiing experience or not will not make a difference on you ability to pick up snowboarding. Expect to fall alot. But remember to keep your knees bent and lean forward. Above all.... HAVE FUN!!

taking lessons is a good idea but a lot of those "trainers" just do it so they can consider them selves pros. so if i were you i would look into who and where your taking lessons. but in snowboarding you want to start out slow because it is a lot different from skiing. keep your knees bent. Also, do some research on the internet about how to snowboard just so you have a general idea of how it is done. And have a nice hot shower waiting for you when you get home cause your gunna fall alot.

you'll get it, for sure, but if your glutes, quads, hamstrings and abs are strong, you'll get through your first day with less strain, and totally impress your instructor .(great ego boost)
You spend a lot of time in your first lesson sitting and standing consecutively this is because it's hard to balance on a stationary board, like a bike with no kickstand, you stop, you lean over.. So, crunches and squats, big time. Can you sit on the ground, then stand without pushing with your hands? If not, that's okay, most grownups I teach can't, but if you can, yay! your first day snowboarding will be a breeze.
Have fun!!!

nicely, my first project to assert, is definitely lease a snowboard and boots once you bypass... costume warmth, yet be able to bypass on your outfits. once you're honestly taking position a hill, attempt taking position both techniques and note which one is evidently gentle and more convenient that you'll do. also, once you try to educate, push inclusive of your back foot and lean a similar way that you want to educate somewhat. once you have become up a hill, extra or a lot less the bunny hill in case you have not in any respect been snowboarding earlier, it is probable going to be a "rope tow." which means you grab a rope, you draw close on, it pulls you up, you enable bypass, and also you're on the great. you're probable going to need to get some covers on your gloves. only bypass to the pro-save on the mountain that you'll and they are going to help you out. you do not want some thing too severe priced in spite of the actuality that. those will really be saving your wintry climate gloves from the rope burn. once you get to higher aspects of the mountain, you'd be on a advance so that you gained't even want the covers. i wish the following assistance help you out!
