So i like this guy, and we've been friends a while. I think he might like me back but i cant tell. The other day at a football game he let me and only me wear his favorite hat, his friends always mess with me when i talk to him, and when i talk to him and his friends he stands relatively close to me. What does that mean and how can you tell if guys like you.

btw, i didn't "keep" the hat, i borrowed it and gave it back monday after he let me borrowed it. just for clarification.

Here are some signs:
1. Examine his body language. If he likes you, you will see that his body position will lean forward toward you.
2. Keep close. Ever get the feeling that somebody is "in" your personal space - so much so that you want to step back? If he likes you and you like him, neither of you will step back.
3. Make eye contact - if he likes you, he'll get it and hold it. Again, this can be uncomfortable if you don't like him or vice versa. You'll know if you feel like you have held eye contact just a fraction of a second longer than you would with anyone else, or if he looks away quickly.
4. Be aware of touching - he might put his hand on your arm when he laughs, or not move his leg if it happens to touch yours. This is a very good sign that he likes you.
5. Keep an eye out. His pupils will dilate (get bigger) if he likes you - but this is quite hard to pick up on and you might look a bit weird looking that closely into his eyes.
6. See if he keeps going out of his way to 'bump' into you.
7. Watch for him showing interest in things you like and do.
8. Joke freely. Does he laugh even if you aren't funny?
9. Check for signs of nervousness: nervous laughter, sweaty palms, fidgeting...
10. Smile. A big smile in return probably means the feeling is mutual.
11. See if he always end up in the same line or group as you.
12. Ask! You can do this over AIM or email if you really are nervous. Try to do it casually; he may ask if you like him first...say Yes! Tell him you don't like mind games, and he'll likely follow your lead and be straighforward.
13. He'll start pushing you around playfully (if you ever have a tickle fight with some of your friends, he'll usually go for you)

Listen dear you know him and your own situation better than anyone here on Answers. Anyways if he gives you better and preferential treatment than chances are that he feels for you too, but that does not necessarily mean it. He might love you as a friend. If "his friends" are females than I guess they are jealous because he cares more for you then them. Anyways the best way is to approach him, even if he does not love you he definitely cares for you. If you ask him he might (if he already does not) consider in getting in a relation with you. Dont care of those silly excuses people make "I love him/her but dont want to ruin our friendship" such things actually never happen. Instead the person starts taking you more seriously (my own experience). Go ahead. You dont want to loose him.Best of Luck

Lol... does he stare at you in class, and when you look at him, does he look away? Does hrget really nervous when you talk to him, or does he take longer to respond in conversations with you then he would with his friends(Means hes thinking about what to say). You should ask him "Do you like me as much as I like you?". Thats a good conversation starter, see where things go from there!

When you get butterflies in you stomach and he also feels nervous. He looks at you and holds your gaze. Will open doors for you or help you a lot. He wants to get to know you. He ask you what is your favorite movie? Etc. He hugs you or put his arm around you. Holds your hand.

Not really sure you are either one of the two a show pc to his friends or he probably really likes you. Maybe se if he is willing to go somewhere with just you and him.

Well girl, when guys like me they usually u know play footsie or hot me or stare for a mighty long time. Personally i think your boy/friend likes u.
