on start up (win xp) i want to disable msn msgr & yahoo msgr from starting automattically. it seems to take an age to get to the stage where i can get onto the internet

when yahoo or msn is loaded go to the settings or option tab and select for them not to start up when your computer is switched on

no need to disable anythng else

For MSN, expand the messenger screen. Go to tools-->Options-->General and uncheck the box that allows automatic sign in. The same should generally apply to Yahoo!

Those messengers royally s&*% d(&$^£'s A&&!

Try a MULTI-PROTOCOL one, which does all of MSN IM - Yahoo IM - IRC, Jabber etc etc in one application.

- Trillian

- Psi

- Miranda

- Gaim

Except Trillian, they're all lighter and faster than using all the single-protocol ones together.

On Windows, I particularly like Miranda - it's super light, and does all the basics.

Start>run>msconfig>start up>uncheck the boxes, apply>ok, restart

in MSN click TOOLS on the menu bar >>>> OPTION >>>> GENRAL >>>> UNCHECK START MSN AUTO WHEN WINDOWS LOG IN ......for YAHOO click MASSENGER on the menu bar >>>> PREFEREANCES >>>>>GENRAL UNCHECK START WHEN WINDOWS LOG IN .......... BUT U MUST BE CONNECTED 2 THE INTERNET IN YAHOO .

go into the options of each (or preferences) and turn off automatic start up and logon.

Take those out of the startup folder.

geez they have a setting in tools or options that you can set it not to do not use msconfig!!!!!
