In a few weeks, in gym, our teacher is making us bench just the bar (45 pounds) I am very short, about 5'1" and just a small kid. Is there a way I can tell if I'm able to do it? I don't want to embarass myself and I don't belong to a gym. By the way, I weigh 100 pounds and I can do pull ups.

I agree with the first answer about doing 10 pushups (or as many as you can). Also, 45 pounds is less than you think, if you have a dog 45 pounds is a little more than 2 large/medium bags of dog food.

Pull ups work different muscles. How many pushups can you do? That would be a better indicator of your ability to bench 45 pounds.

With your height and weight, if you can do 10 push ups, you should have no problem benching 45 pounds.

There is no good way to know that you can do it unless you do it. Pullups use different muscles, so this is not a good predictor.
