Your computer may not actually have frozen.
It may be busy doing something in the background.
It could also be that some hardware is not responding.

Try this link first to establish what processes are running on you machine. Download is at the bottom of the page. Sort the processes by cpu with most usage at the top. Process Explorer is an advanced task manager which gives more information on the programs that are running on your computer.
Once you know what is using the most cpu you can then search for the program on the net to find out what it is doing or you can just kill the process to find out if that cures the problem.

Warning. If you just kill a process without knowing what it does it may shutdown your machine.

if it freezes completly and you have to restart your computer each time then maybe you have a virus on your computer. Try rebooting your computer - you should have the reboot CD or floppy disc that came with your computer. This may take about 30-45 minutes and everything will be deleted so back up your files onto cd before doing anything.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

It's winter. You've got the computer too near the freezer. You haven't "rebooted" your PC.

*Yeah, so this IS a little bit below my threshhold!!!

it might be because you have a few viruses on there-or some spam, get a virus scanner and a spam blocker at best buy or target or wall*mart-they usually have them at reasonable prices
