most models are super skinny and half of the time it's just plain nasty, not too mention it pressures some kids/teens into thinkin they are supposed to be super skinny too, i'm not sayin that people should be fat, just that models shouldn't be forced to be skinny. Am i the only one who thinks this?

No - some of it is a sick industry, and I was in it. I was a glamour/fashion photographer and I couldn't stand the fakeness of the industry even though I loved working with hot models (I am guy what do you expect). Now you are talking more about runway or sometimes fashion models. Glamour Models tend to work out, eat better, but they are still constantly looking at their imprefections. Now I worked with tons of models that were not shallow that had depth to their brains, but they all were still so concerned about their looks.

My opinion as a former glamour/fashion photographer, do what is best for your body. Eat right, exercise, do not compare yourself to someone else, love who you are and the way you were created. Be excited in who you are, and don't worry about what the model on the cover looks like!!!!!!!!!

Well i am a 13 year old model and i am not supper skinny. And i get ALOT of business and the only reason you think this is because of what you see on the covers of magazines. Have you ever been to a fashion show or been to a models fashion shoot??? I am guessing no because we are not all terrible thin, i eat normal and dont look anorexic and i am not forced to look super skinny. Please dont judge all models by what you see on the Internet and on magazine covers because those pictures are fake, photographers take them then they change everything on the models body to make them look perfect, models are people too and just because they are tall and thin dont get jealous. WE ARE NOT SUPER SKINNY ONLY THE PEOPLE THAT YOU SEE ON MAGAZINE COVERS ARE.

I completely agree with you, both from a personal taste (what I dig) point of view and from a general health and image point of view. The Spaniards really did a great service with their new law requiring a minimum BMI for professional models. (Such a law would never fly in the U.S., but I like the idea.)

Karl Lagerfeld (designer) is an idiot to oppose the Spanish law by saying that his clothes only look good when able to drape loosely. If that's his take on it, then he should GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS OF DESIGNING CLOTHES, because there is NO ONE in the general population who can wear his clothes the way he thinks they should be worn. Fashion is the only industry I know of that is NOT driven by customer or market demand. (And yes, I saw "The Devil Wears Prada" and I know the speech - great scene but doesn't change my thinking on this.)

I disagree. Models are used to photograph clothing in an artistic way or fashion. It should be up to the designer who they want to put their clothing on. Part of designing is knowing the body you are designing for. If you design a gown for a thin woman and you have an overweight woman wear it, the design line is off and what you invisioned in your mind will no longer be represented. Models and fashion are art forms and are meant to be seen as that. They shouldn't be considered the ideal, it should just be viewed as the designer's artistic statement. Models are just a medium on which to display art work on.

I'm the Abercrombie Kids model and they don't force us to be skinny. They push you to. It's illegal for models to look anorexic. I personally am just above twig like so I don't know. But I do understand your point of view.

No, the super skinny, almost anoreric women look terrible and definitely send a wrong message. Real women have natural curves!
