I know one teacher who did this. He had a regular teaching certification to teach high school English. He got paid the same as any teacher working at a NYC public school. (In fact, he got the job through the NYC Teaching Fellows, a program that hires people with a bachelors degree but no teaching credential or experience to teach in NYC public schools).

The school where he taught was connected with the juvenile detention facility. It was a strange situation, because the penal system was in charge of the children's incarceration, but the department of education was in charge of the school. Plus there was a lot of instability, with children coming and going depending on their sentence, or transfers to another facility.

If you are thinking about doing it, God bless you.

I was one of those teachers.

In Maryland, the pay is about the same as any other teacher despite the fact that teachers in Level 4 and 5 schools are subject to the possibility of injury.

Generally, you need a Bachelors or Masters degree (depending on the field of study) and State certification. You will then have to go through ongoing training that deals specifically with students that have behavioral problems... this includes crisis intervention and physical training.

If you are not comfortable with doing physical interventions, do not get into this field... you will put other staff and yourself in harms way.

Still require a teaching degree and should have special education qualifications. I would think that you are being paid as other teachers would. Depends on where you live and what arrangements the employer has made.

Doctrine - the accuracy of what's. Reproof - understanding that sin is the transgression of the regulation (a million John 3:4), fending off breaking the ten commandments. Correction - changing course whilst recognizing the main suitable way. coaching in righteousness - understanding the obedience and the works that are required for turning out to be the workmanship of Christ (Ephesians 2:10).
