I have a fiancé I’m pretty happy with. There's great things in her but I'm worried about a big fact that she’s mentally slow or mildly retarded. She has a hard time understanding things. This limits the type of conversations I would like to have with a partner. Also this limits the things I want to do in my life. My parents constantly warn me about continuing the relationship. I do agree with my parent’s suggestions. I could be selling my life short by marrying her. My life dreams are somewhat harder to accomplish with the relationship. I’m struggling on the decision of keeping or ending the relationship. She has had a difficult life of being jobless, mother passing away, and being abused in past relationships. I don’t want to crush her spirit by leaving her; I’m her one. Also, I made promises of not leaving her. But I’m afraid I won’t be happy if I stay with her. What's the best thing I can do?

Well, to be honest we all suffer from some disability whether its physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, & etc.
If you love her then it doesn't matter what others think. When you love someone you have to make sacrfices, she might be slow but is it really worth leaving her over?
Love is a strong word, it is often misused but when you love someone you except that person for who they are as well as their flaws.

Not only do you deserve to have someone who challenges you and makes you feel content, she also deserves someone who cherishes her and wants her for herself and has no doubts about her. Do you think it will hurt her more now if you end it, or a few years and kids down the road when you have had it?? You should be happy, and a sense of loyalty and duty because you are "her one" may sound noble, but is also a bit conceited. Let her go, life goes on. Find someone you can't imagine being without. You will be doing both of you a favor.

Before everyone starts calling you a horrible person, I would like to say I think you would regret it.
I assume you proposed to her b/c you love her, and not b/c u feel bad for her. If in your heart, you did this b/c you feel sorry for her, that's pretty raw. If you did this for love, then one of the things that you are going to have to realize is marriage is tough and comes with challenges. It may not get easier but at least you won't be going through it by yourself. She can be successful in life, but she'll need you as her husband to be there for her. Can you do that?

Dont you think the time to think this all over was before she became your fiance ?? How absolutely selfish of you. So she had a hard life and then you had to come along. Made all sorts of promises and asked her to marry only to be thinking it over NOW ?? Its probably in her best interest you dont marry her. Look how your treating her now.
