I can only approach this from a female point of view. I don't know what men prefer to do because most of the men I've known just bottle it up until they either have a heart attack or go and do something dumb and end up with a hernia or something.
Hot shower. Hot bath (insane amount of bubbles optional; blowing bubbles optional,lol). Listen to soothing music (soothing to your soul). Phone a friend and b-itch. Bang nails into a board with a hammer. Go for a run. Go for a long, long bike ride in the rain and don't come home till your legs are shaking. Ice cream or chocolate (highly underrated). Watch "Hoodwinked" and sing along to the shnitzel song (everyone I know has had it running it through their head). Watch a favourite movie. Go kayakking. Go somewhere you haven't been for a long time and/or play tourist in your own town (Seattle, right?). Go to a sporting event and scream your lungs out. Scream while the woman upstairs screams (I heard about her.....). Make up opera-sounding songs as you sing and make the dogs in the neighborhood howl. Howl at the moon (just watch out in case the woman upstairs drops a clay flower pot on your head). Watch comedies that make you laugh so hard you nearly peuk. Talk to a therapist or relative. Do visualization exercises (I have one I do if you want to do it -- too long to put on here).

Take a deep breath PAULY, and another, and another - bend over at the waist as far as you can and feel the tension flow out of your fingertips (works for me anyway)

ahh, the hell of stress. i usually take a jog, put in some music, take a warm bath, or take a nap. also, focusing on my breathing helps when i am in the moment and stressed. good luck

Well right now, I am just lying on my bed with my laptop, thats pretty relaxing. But I would have to say, just closing my eyes and thinking happy thoughts always works.. :)
