Since the birth of my daughter I have had this program called first steps calling every week for 3 months now, just "checking on us"...They told me they were calling to make sure she is developing properly but after researching them on the net I found otherwise...None of my other friends get calls and they have newborns as well...

I have no clue why they would need to call and check on us if it isnt something they do to everyone...I dont have any kind of mental problems or anything, neither does my husband. One of my friends would have motive to report me to get back at me, I won't get into that though.

Is there anyway I can find out if she has reported me to them?

I am not certain that it is child services but on the net is says that they are a branch of the ga preventative child abuse. I am not worried at all they can keep calling all they want, but I am just wondering if I can find out if someone made a complaint. There would be no legitimate reason to investigate me, my husband and I are wonderful parents and would never hurt our daughter!

Thats an easy one...

Next time they call tell you "You decline to participate in their study or survey and you'd appareciate it if they didn't call again." If they stop calling they went a Child Protective Service (CPS) agency. Most likely there are connected with you local health department and honestly doing some sort of survey/evaluation. Normally CPS won't disgise their identity.

Depends on where you live. In my state, calls to child protective services are not confidential. But I would find it highly suspicious that cps is working this way. When a report of abuse or neglect is filed on a child under the age of five, then the assigned worker is required to go out and see that child in person. Most likely your were referred by the hospital. Why don't you call the first steps people and talk to an administrator. It might turn out that they have services that you might want to take advantage of.

By the way, even if you just suspect that a 'friend' would do something like that to you then why would you continue to have the drama of that person in your life.

Generally reports to child or family services are confidential and you will never know. Don't waste anymore time worrying about who reported you. Just get through the three months with flying colors and move on.

Enjoy that little angle that you gave life to and don't worry about all the little people in the world.

You know they normally don't put you in programs like that with NO REASON> Was there drugs in the babies system...unusual behavior between your hubby and yourself...was the baby born with any minor or major medical needs...are you really young?
Instead of worrying so much about WHO referred you to this program ...use the program to your benefit...learn as much as you can from the people who call.
It's really not your job to worry about your silly little friends anymore...it's your job to be the best mother you can be. And just for your info...most of the time these agencies are brought into the picture by a family member or physician.

Usually, such information is kept confidential. Ask them for a written report as to their findings. Request it from a supervisor in the department and state that if they have no just reason for investigating you, then to stop at once.

There is no way, those calls are anonymous. Just think about it before accusing someone. If a friend of yours would file a report to 'get back at you' then i think you need to change how you define the word 'friend'.

no unless your "friend" comes out and tells you she called you probably will never know but you should be able to talk to someone hire up in the company and get them to back off. Good Luck!

if they look at you kind of scared when you ask them the question.
if they look that way say tell them that they are 'extra wild' for pulling that %#%* type move.
