I would definately recommend participating in High School Drama if you want to be an actress. First, it will help you develop the discipline you will need to become an accomplished actress. Acting is not as easy as it seems. Secondly, by participatin in High School Drama, you can have the chance to audition for some really great acting colleges out there which in turn would help you get the foot in the door. There are many acting schools that are audition only and you will want all the prep you can get going into an auditon. It will also look great on a college application or job resume. Think about it, if you fully participate in the Drama Department, you will be adding shows to your resume. One of the most important things in the acting world is what your resume looks like. Finally, this will be your chance to ensure this is what you want to do for the rest of your life. You will learn some amazing lessons that will help you not only on stage or in front of the camera, but also in life in general. Break-a-Leg!!

Yeah, take HS Drama. I know it's helping me a lot, and now I'm involved in two plays this semester. Audition for local plays, that type of thing. Try and meet people who've had a lot of experience in theatre - my mom's best friend actually had a small role in a local movie and has written and cast a play, which I am now involved in. Just make a lot of effort, it takes a lot to get to the top. Also, most importantly, be yourself!

yes, high school drama would be a good start. try interning and/or taking classes at a professional theater near you. read plays, go to theater, research the best roles for yourself and learn from others.
