Im moving to Somerset Kentucky in August. What is it like there? Is the area generally friendly towards everyone, especially minorities? Is the area generally safe? Is there anything to do worth seeing (besides the Lake Cumberland.) Are the schools good?

Thanks for any information!

I go to Somerset a couple times a year and it seems to be a nice area. From what I've seen and heard it is a relatively safe place to live and the locals are friendly and don't seem to be prejudice against minorities. I don't know anything about the schools. As for there being anything worth seeing, you'll have to ask the locals (keep in mind it is south east Ky, so there isn't a lot of non-outdoor things to do). Somerset does have a small mall and a movie theater. Outside of Somerset, in Nancy KY, there is a really nice apple orchard. In Somerst there is a place called The Center for Rural Development ("The Center" for short), which is used for various things, from quilt shows to Lexington Philharmonic performances (The Center has a theater in it). That's all I can tell you. I hope you like living in Somerset.
