Everyone outside America thinks its a great idea, the rules were a joke, designed by the baseball clubs to hurt the WBC.

It is a great idea to grow the game of baseball internationally, promote it to a new generation outside America, while giving players a chance to represent something they believe in.

The WBC showed some really great games, put new players and countries on the map (Matsuzaka and Korea)

For one of the more patriotic nations on earth, Americans seem really indifferent towards international sport.

The WBC is not at a high level as of yet, but it will be, as the game grows internationally.

Baseball has never done as well as its doing now, and its because of the growth internationally of the sport, and the furthering of the talent pool, through international players making up large numbers in the majors.

Yes.

It's a meaningless tournament designed as a marketing ploy for MLB, and I don't think many diehard fans - at least in America - take it too seriously.

The rules are terrible - in the first round, starters were only allowed to throw a maximum of 65 pitches, and were not even allowed above 95 in the finals. There were also rules about days off for pitchers, and the mercy rule. I understand the MLBPA wanting to protect their players, but it didn't enhance the level of play.

I'm also not a fan of the playoff format. No baseball playoff should ever be decided by a single game, because it really gives no indication of which is the better team. I'd rather see a 3-of-5 or something like that for the playoff rounds, which would also give the fans something more to enjoy.

In its current format, the WBC is at best an offseason diversion for fans. But for me, and I think for many serious fans, it's almost meaningless.

Yes it is!

The best baseball players in the world (except Cuba) play in the American Major Leagues. The World Series determines the best team in the best league. All-Star games are never as good as you would think, despite the fact that the best players are on the field.
