A celebrity is a person who is widely recognized in a society. Fame is one prerequisite for celebrity status, but not always sufficient. For example, as "infamy" has passed out of common English usage, high-profile criminals, or in this case people with no talent at all,may be considered to be famous, but they are not always celebrities.

A celebrity is someone with an extremely over inflated ego that has trouble functioning unless attention is on them 24 hours a day in the form of groveling. They also are mislead by their yes-men (who they pay to have around to agree with them on everything) that they have intelligence when in fact they have virtually none at all.

Somebody everyone knows...we recognize their eyes, their hair, their teeth, their boobs (if applicable), their nose. They're in the media and are known for either a talent or something they've done that's good or shocking. They have face and name recognition. Anybody famous is a celebrity.
