I have to say that I voted in order to give Bush some opposition in congress. When the same party controls all branches of government you do not have a true political debate that makes a government a democracy. A congress that rubber stamps everything a president want without any debate is just one step below a dictatorship.

My main basis is taxing. I want to know where the government is going to spend my money, i ten to favor the republicans, due to the amount of military spending and reduction towards welfare and social programs, that is one of my factors, as well as their stance on other ideals, such as protection of marriage, gun rights, homeland security and other measures, these for me do not really change with one administration to another, i will always vote republican, because the candidates represent my beliefs most of the time,

I usually write-in names. A wasted vote, you say? I say it makes a strong statement to the candidates that "There is no mandate. You are here by the skin of your teeth."

Any strategist that theorizes can not be trusted. It is like people who start their reply with "I think..."
Form your own opinion on America's voting habits. We are parrots because we could not possibly be trusted with the truth on issues. Heck, if we knew, WE'D be running for office and then would have to do our best to try and keep it from voters.

I was going to mix it up a little and vote a little of Repub here and a little Dem there, but after my education on Yahoo answers, I voted straight Dem. I would not want to associate with Repubs if Yahoo is any indication.

i vote according to their issues that they support. i had someone tell me that they liked the views of the republican candidate we had here in SC, and even though he had already proven that he was the man for the job, he was going to vote democrat bc it was the democrats turn to take over.
t(the republican won still)
i just don't understand why ppl don't vote for the candidate they like best just bc he or she isn't a type of party member.
