You need to separate them in a quarantine tank, especially if the fish are cichlids. Cichlids tend to be aggressive anyway, and a breeding pair can be especially bad news for other fish. You may need to get the pair their own tank.

Hi there, If your fishy born babies fish, as common, separate the babies in another tank or a tank separator that available in any fish shop. If the baby was too small in size and really cant eat any big food you feed your fish, just buy some nutrition blocks will do, that will help on the baby fish that can't eat any big food. Use the block for about 2 weeks time, then you can start feeding them the fish bite you normally use, the baby will be happy to have it as well.
Beside that, if you separate to another tank, that tank must have good setup as in water plant, sand, grass, died coral, filter, air pump and medicine to prevent parasite and disease on the baby. Coz i met this situation that my baby affected by disease and parasite and died. So beware on this ya, but the best solution is to buy yourself a net with 2 hook and place it with the same tank as the mother.
Hope the statement i provide do helps on your problem, thanks a lot..enjoy your new life with the baby..^_^

In a pet store you can buy a little basket that has 2 hooks on the side. These hook on the top of your aquarium and the basket sit in the water. Catch as many of the babies that you can and put them in the little basket. Or you can just put the mother in the net unless there are other fish that would eat the babies.

Pet stores usually sell devices to put into your tank that will keep the fish separated.

Pull the mother into a separate tank for a while - a holding tank of sorts.
