I am afraid they might banish it! If they do, in my opinion, they are, in a way, communists.

Democrats will do nothing about religion, except protect ALL beliefs, not just a few like the Republicans were doing. They can't banish religion any more than the Republicans can establish it, so you have nothing to fear as your beliefs are quite safe within the Constitution's First Amendment.

Your question makes me wonder if you're not so much afraid of having religion be banished, but being forced to tolerate religions other than your own in America, especially the stereotypical Communist comment. You might benefit from reading a dictionary instead of feeding into stereotypes force fed to you by the religious society about Democrats being atheists and thusly Communists or God-haters or anti-American.

The Democratic party gets its very name from the word "democracy", which is a government for the people BY the people. As in WE choose what goes on in our country, not a priviledged few that happen to hold all the money and power.

Communism, however, gets its name from the word "community", which is a government in which the community owns everything and the individual has nothing of his or her own. The community decides as a whole, not individuals.

In Democracy, the individual's rights and opinions are everything. In Communism, the community is everything, where the individual is nothing. Sounds more like what was just prevented by the Democratic sweep of Congress, rather than the last six years of economic hell we've been going through.

Might be a good idea to look at the big picture and read a dictionary and the Constitution as well as a history book before going and calling someone something as slanderous as Communist next time. You'll irritate a lot less people that way.

How old are you, dear? The Democrats don't want to banish religion, they just believe in the 1st Amendment when they say "Freedom of Religion" is all. Sure they go overboard sometimes- too often even in my eyes, but it's better than the Muslim=Terrorist mentality of the Right.

They want all references to religion banned from anything to do with the Government.
They don't seem to understand the difference between not restricting religion and having NO religion.
Whether they are religous in the personal lives doesn't seem to affect the way they vote on getting all references to God out of all government functions, buildings, etc.
Look at how much violence & trouble there has been since God was banned from schools, but that goes right along with the 'there is no right or wrong, there are no winners or losers' philosophy. Religion says there is right and wrong, and they can't have anyone saying that.
They may not ban it, but they'll try to banish it to the back room.

In Democracy the church and state must be separate.Look at the Islamic world why do you think they are in trouble because Religious thugs also want to run the government too.one of the biggest mistakes USA made in Iraq was to encourage people like Sadr and Sistani and also preached the democracy at the same time.Be free practice your Religion yourself but don't impose it on others as Muslims do.

The democrats are less likely to ban religion than the conservative republicans. The democrats are all about diversity and equal rights and taking care of society as a whole. They are the true defenders of the constitution. Republicans want everybody walking the same line and those that have get more and those that have not get less and they want to change the constitution to serve their own interests..

Where did you come by that? Don't trust whoever told you that one, they are delusional and probably shouldn't be running around loose.

As for communism, the Democrats are much more in favor of free enterprise than are the Republicans who try very hard to achieve ultimate capitalism, i.e. fascism with government sanctioned monopolies.

Seeing how all the Democratic leadership is religious, and almost entirely Christian (yes, Pelosi is Roman Catholic) I think they'll be most supportive of the first amendment protection of religion.

The only excuse in my book for such a question is if you are under 12.
You obviously do not know what Communism is, or what the Democrats are.
They will do nothing at all about religion, a lot of them are religious people themselves.

HUH?
Where did you get your information or have you been smoking some weed?

If ANYTHING, the Republican party nearly imposed their own version of the Taliban, through its pushing of Christianity into our private lives.

I am not a Democrat, but the way the Republicans have been waving their holy banner around, I'm thinking about switching parties.

That is repuglican rhetoric, there are just as many if not more democratic Christians as there are repuglican. Religion is safe in America, with either party in power.
