Who was your favorite president and why?
Try to be a little unique. Saying "Bush" or "Clinton" is not demonstrating your world knowledge.
Any nation, any time. Prime Ministers are also acceptable answers. Chancellors, Kings, Emperors do not belong here. Prime Ministers and Presidents only for maximum democratic value.
Mine is Andrew Jackson, United States of America. He is so hot and dreamy. Everything he did was just so wonderful. He is the best president ever.
Who were yours?
Kisses,
Jessica
p.s. I love you!

Some of the best things in the history of the world were done by Andrew Jackson:
The Georgia v. Cherokees trial
Trail of Tears
Seminole Wars
Expansion of the West
The beginnings of the doctrine of Manifest Destiny
The first (and only) President to eliminate national debt
He destroyed the Second Bank of the United States
Killed Charles Dickinson in a duel of honor
Introduced the Spoils System
Threatened to personally kill Clay and Calhoun [two of the worst Americans in history]
His only regrets upon leaving office were that he did not shoot Henry Clay and hang John C. Calhoun.
He smashed the Senate and turned the Presidency into a dictatorship
He reduced personal liberties
He expanded education and employment opportunities for white men and women
He won the battle of New Orleans and was responsible for the deaths of over 2,000 Britons in a single day

I'd have to say it's a tie between Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. FDR quickly responded to the attack on Pearl Harbor and initiated a state of war to protect his country. He also organized the [atomic] bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to retaliate for all of the American soldier and civilian lives lost. I also like Truman because he entered the presidency at a rough time. He entered after FDR had passed away. Truman was left in the dark during the creation of the atomic bomb, so he was unaware of the effectiveness of the bombing. Truman was in office for World War II and the beginning of the 1950s. He helped the economy prosper and helped returning soldiers receive benefits and find jobs.
There were many great presidents, but I must say these two are my favorites.

Well I would say the three leaders mostly in my lifetime I admire the most are
Ronald Regan for restoring the faith of Americans in themselves you could argue with his politics but what he did in restoring American moral posts Vietnam,Watergate, Iran hostage Crises and a Crumbling economy was truly a miracle..He was an optimist at heart he believed in the American people and return they believed in him.
Internationally I would say the leaders I most admire are
Margaret Thatcher .A strongly conservative prime minister in an overwhelmingly socialist leaning Europe who like Regan restored the faith of the British People and lead her country in 2 wars. and a woman to boot!
Mahatma Ghandi. lets just say that like his name implies he was a great soul with a vision that far exceeded his time.
BTW on Andrew Jackson you forgot he was the 1st Democrat elected President

Though his Presidency was tarnished because of Vietnam, I would say LBJ.
Many people think it was JFK who did much for Civil Rights, it was Johnson who actually did.
JFK was the one who began the process but he just let it sit on the back burner because he was worried about what it would do for his re-election bid.
Johnson was the one who actually risked his Political career and pushed it through.
It's a real shame that he does not get the recognition he deserves for it. Everyone just seems to remember only Vietnam, which actually was escalated by JFK.

My favorite president was Dwight D Eisenhower of the United States.
He got America rolling on improvement.
Established the Interstate highway system to get us to other cities faster. The nation liked his way of doing things.
He also kept us busy with a good economy.

FDR because he got the country out of the Great Depression and helped the regular worker. He still had a few shady deals going but all in all, if I had to choose, it would be him.
Why would you like Andrew Jackson? He committed atrocities against the Indians, he makes me sick.

Clinton because he left office with a balanced budget and he started the program that helped gradually get people on welfare off of welfare. I was born when reagan was president, so i dont have many that i had hands on experience to judge on. I do know that the late 90s were a very good time for this country. When Clinton used military action it was for something most in the world could stand behind, citing mainly the kosovo thing.
In my opinion, a strong leader is not defined by someone who divides the country and alienates those who dont fully agree with his/her ideas. If the majority does not follow you, your not really leading now are you?
