I need some more help with these problems [show your work]:
6% sales tax of $229.00

You have a house that is worth $130,000 and oyu are taxed 2.1% property tax. How much do you have to pay for the property tax?

i think you have to multiply
229 times .6 = 137.4
is that right?

do you have to move the decimal anywhere?

To change "6 %" to a decimal, move it over two places not one.
6 % = .06
2.1 % = .021
(If you forget, remember 10 % is one tenth or .10
but 1 % is one hundredth or .01)

Multiply price 229 by .06 to get sales tax.
Multiply price 130,000 by .021 to get property tax.

Another Trick: If you don't want just the tax by itself, but the final price including the tax added in, multiply the original price by 1.06 or 1.021

229 x .06 = 13.74 the decimal gets moved 2 places, not one

130000 x .021 = 2730

close you multiply by .06 in first case and .021 in second to figure the tax
