i guess it depends on what you consider last year.

if last year means 2005 (because it's 2006 this year), then it was USC vs oklahoma in the orange bowl, january 2005

if last year means last season, then it was USC vs texas in the rose bowl, january 2006

Texas and USC With Matt Leinhart leading the Trojans and Vince Young leading the Longhorns the Longhorns won mostly because of Vince Young's 3 Rushing td's and Reggie Bush the RB for USC at the time not doing that great and only ran for 80 yards and had a fumble.(Now at the NFL Level with the New Orleans Saints)

That's why the loss Saturday was such a big thing.
They (the announcers)kept repeating how the NAtional champions are getting routed all up and down the field and how this in definately not the team from the championship game 10 months ago.

You can't ask that question of any Buckeyes or Irish fan, because they believe that their team plays in the national championship every year.
