I believe a blood test is required, or hair sample test. Most breed associations have open books.

Go back to the Appaloosa website and download the handbook. Look at rule #205 & #216. #205 explains what will make a horse ineligble for resitration and #216 is the hardship registration which is open the spayed mares and geldings. This section also tell you everything you need to know about submitting photos and the correct forms that are needed. Good Luck!

You must provide the dam and sire info of the appy you are registering. At least one parent has to be a registered Appy. Without knowing the parents of the horse you cannot register it.

You can Hardship POA's (appaloosa ponies) You might be able to do the same for a horse. A male would have to be gelded though. Contact the Appy registry and see what they say it'll be free to ask.

You probably have to contact the Appy registration. I understood that you had to have proof of the parents and their registration in order for your horse to be registered. This is the only way that they can keep "true breeding". Good luck with this!!

I believe one parent must be registered with the ApHC.
Even non- spotted horses can be registered providing one parent is registered.

How can you prove it's an App if you have no idea who were his parents? There are so many crossbreds out there, who knows what they really are.
