i have 5 halogen 20 watt light,s attached to a transformer would i be able to put a stronger light buld in instead of the 20watt ,or would i blow up the transfomer ( maybe a 50watt )

It would depend on the maximum power output of the transformer, but it is probably designed around the existing bulbs.

Don't mess with electricty Margaret.
Talk to a good retailer and take advice from a trade expert.
Ratings are there for a reason.
Observe them!
Respect them!

If you are going to use higher wattage bulbs then you will need a bigger transformer.
