ROFL, j/k... ALL the above answers are correct (ie. Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). Basically, "you go on the internet with your buddies in a Role Playing scenario and level up as fast as you can in order to get the bragging rights". But YGOTIWYBIARPSALUAFAYCIOTGTBR would be too long an acronym, so they went with MMORPG instead.
World of Warcraft (aka. WOW) (which is a huge success right now) is the most common example.
