You have to be 18 or if you are under 18 you will need to have a parent present for the piercing. A professional piercer will probably know if you are just bringing a friend to co-sign, so just take your parent and avoid trouble. Though if you call the shop and ask, I'm sure they will be able to confirm the rules they follow or if they have a no exception policy.

Also, don't get it done with the piercing gun, please.

There is no legal age of consent for body piercing, and so it's legal for someone under the age of 18 to have a piercing as long as they have consented to it. Children under the age of 16 can't legally consent to a genital (or in the case of girls, nipple)

You have to be 18, or have a parent with you.

If you are under 18, you definitely need a parent or guardian's consent. And no, a forged note doesn't count.

Not in South-Africa. I'm 15 and I got a second set of ear piercings last month, without my parents having to be there. Not that they had a problem with it. ^_^

It may vary from state to state, but in California, yes you do. Any body art or piercing. It will have to be a parent or guardian signing for you, they have to sign a release of liability when you have it done. Good luck!

parents, darling. Unless you look old enough that they're not going to check - but if you're going somewhere that shady, I wouldn't bother.

wait til you're 18 - I bet you'll change your mind by then anyways...
