I've just done mine using a little device called Videosafe. Just connect the camera to the box and connect the box to a USB port on the laptop. Press play on the camera and record in the supplied software and record the tape. Worked very well for mine once I'd loaded the correct software. Also works for audio cassettes.
Oh, and you don't need a video capture card.
