Just to put the record straight, the three "immigrants" in question had 36 convictions *between* them. Yes, they were given life sentences, but the judge ordered them to be deported after serving their sentence.

**LONDON (Reuters) - Three members of a gang of armed robbers "addicted to violence" have been sentenced to life in jail after terrorising London streets.
The group, whom police described as one of the "most violent street robbery gangs to operate in London in recent years" subjected their victims to brutal attacks during a three-month campaign last year.
The gang would abduct strangers from the street before stealing their valuables and bank cards. Those who resisted revealing their PIN numbers were threatened with guns and knives and viciously beaten.
One suffered a fractured cheekbone, which required the insertion of a metal plate, while another is still receiving medical treatment after being repeatedly hit in the face.
On Monday, all four men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob at Wood Green Crown Court, north London, and were sentenced to a total of 45 years.
Unemployed Robert Lincoln, 18, from Barking, was told he should serve at least 14 years, after which he should be deported to Jamaica.
Pedro Frota, 19, also unemployed from Barking, was told he should serve 12-1/2 years and be deported to Portugal.
Unemployed Sofian Majera, 22, from Dagenham, was given 14 years and told he should be deported to Rwanda.
The only member of the gang to avoid a life sentence was Luis Frota, 23, also from Barking, who was sentenced to 4-1/2 years, after which the judge recommended he be deported to Portugal.
Detective Inspector Lloyd Gardner, of London's crime squad, said: "This gang were one of the most violent street robbery gangs to operate in London in recent years.
"They used extreme violence on their victims, who were put through a terrifying ordeal."
The gang carried out 24 attacks between September and December 2005, often targeting passengers as they left tube and train stations.
Judge Witold Pawlak, passing sentence, said: "These men were addicted to violence and treated their victims like they were characters in an arcade game."**

It is not an immigration issue.
Crime affects us all whether we are victims or just aware of what has happened.
And they should be punished.
Why should they get away with being deported when a home grown thug would do the time.
Don't let your dislike of Tony Blair cloud your thinking.
The same would have happened under any administration because there will always be crime to be sorted.

They should be deported as soon as possible as they have abused the hospitality of our country. There should be no appeal allowed either. But isn't this just typical of the way the immigrants are behaving, and have been allowed to get away with for so long by the government, in the name of human rights. There will be a lot of trouble if they keep getting away with it, and the innocent law abiding ones will be the ones that will have to bear the brunt of it unfortunately. With any immigrants lawbreaking it should be two strikes and your out! and the same should be with our citizens two strikes and your inside!

I personaly think we need to stop letting immigrants in, i am not racists i just think enough is enough.

We cant look after our own right so we shoud not be having to take on other countries problems.

I have a mate in the USA she is married to a guy from the uk she has been married to him for over 3years but they cant move over here unless he has a house for them to live in and she does not claim any beniffits. BUT immigrants come over here and get a house furnished, as many beniffits as possible and food vouchers. We have a some porgugess familis moved in to our local area one of the guys deffanatly does not work and he is driving around in a brand new car, were as i have a shyt N reg that is falling apart. I work full time as well as bring up 3 kids my partner works full time and some but we can even afford to pay our mortgage some months and have had to order all our kids xmas stuff from kays on buy now pay next year knowing we will not be able to pay it next year with out getting in shyt with other stuff

Why is a guy with 36 convictions allowed to walk the streets, or even out of a 2 by 2 foot metal box he can't get out of?!

It's not an immigrant issue, really.I think most people convicted of a non-violent crime should not be jailed,& those convicted of violence should be locked up for a minimum of 5 years, without remission. For causing someone to be permanently disabled the sentence should be at least 20 years. For murder, natural life.

Shocking its about time they are vetted and only be allowed in when they are a credit to their selves and this country it seems prisoners have more rights irrespect of nationality than honest working TAX paying people it would suit the world better to find an Island unihabitated and place these unhumane finance draining scum on it to fend for themselves . It may be secured by having this Island surrounded by shark infested water {sorry sharks} no offence intended but it would keep them on the Island

Its disgusting whether he was an immigrant or not. Our justice system is in one hell of a mess. The answer would be to deport ANY immigrant who is convicted - that would free up our prison system and get many more of our own convicts and peadophiles off the streets !!!!!!!!

Dude, this isn't JUST an immigration issue. A more pertinent question would be: Why is the guy who has 36 previous convictions even allowed to walk the streets?????

England like the USA needs to do a reversal of attitudes by and large. It is time for right to be right again and wrong to be wrong again, instead of the other way around. And the Lord Judges must be the first to go.
