Bot is short for "robot", in this case, an automated program that does the chatting. Some bots just periodically post spam, others do automatic "Hi there!

A bot is something that posts spam, advertisements, etc. on a periodical basis in chat rooms. There isn't actually a person typing, just some sort of automated thingy.

a bot is an auto mated conversation thing.it will talk to you and ask you questions now and then.its annoying.because its not actual ppl that are talking.some loser has developed a "bot" to talk and gather details about other ppl.cant quite define it however there are plenty on msn messenger.spleak@hotmail.com.that theres an example of a bot irritating as im sure youll find
