I am writing a story about a girl who's with this guy. His calf bone is broken and the two parts are completely separated from each other. Approximately how long would it take to heal?

First of all....you don't want to call it a "calf" bone if you are writing a story. There are 2 bones in the lower leg. The tibula and fibula.

If both are broken (and didn't go through the skin--which is called a compound fracture) then about 8-10 weeks. If it went through the skin, too.....no infection? Post surgical....at least 12 weeks.

8 to 10 weeks most times

Usually atleast a couple of months but it really depends on the seriousness of the break.

My tibia and fibula were broken like this when a truck ran me over on my motorcycle. I was laid up for 6 months.(was 38 at the time) ;-)=
