I would like to know if we can change out by laws each year so we can stay on the board longer. The way the by laws are not is that each board member is on the board for one yean and can be reelected each year after, so is there any time in the year that we can change those by laws to read that we would be on the board for 4 years and I want to know if this is legal.

If your league is sanctioned by one of the governing bodies like Little League or Pony Baseball you want to make sure that your rules do not violate your charter with them. If you do violate their bylaws your insurance and league charter may be in jeopardy. Changing the length of term of office for board members is usually acceptable, but is not retroactive. This means that the term being served by today’s board members was established by the old rules/bylaws and they would have to be elected under the new terms to be able to serve the longer term on the board.

Aren’t youth leagues fun? I served as President of a Little League with one thousand children for five years. It was a very humbling experience.

I assume you can. You should be able to place a motion, have it seconded, and take a vote. I'm on the board of the local youth soccer association, and we only elect new members when we feel we need a couple, or when someone resigns.

sounds to me you want a good thing to last longer.. are you on the youth league for the youth?? or for job security??

I think there is a reason the elections are held annually..

They're performance based!

You would have to ammend the bylaws and/or the charter by whatever means they set out for ammendments in order for it to be legal.

It depends what the rules of the league say about this.
