To me, it sounds like he's beginning to care about what women think, or whether he hurts their feelings. I think that's great.

Well maybe he is listening a little closer to the woman around him, maybe he has noticed someone sensitive who was hurt or wounded by something he said, and maybe this person than explained to him that it wouldn't hurt to be a little more senstive to other people especially woman.
