Yes, we like "different" names, and I have a "different" name that I LOVED having growing up so please don't give me the lecture on how she'll get teased. These names aren't THAT bad. lol

Ellarie- we'd call her either Ellie or Ella for short
Alaina- we'd call her Laney
or, just name her Laney?

I prefer Alaina. It pretty much sounds like the traditional name, Elena, but with a modern twist. Laney is a nice nickname, too.

To me, Ellarie sounds like a last name (maybe that's what you're going for?).

I gave my daughter a name that I knew I would virtually never use...She is technically Samantha, but I knew before she was born that she would always be Sam to me.

My neice is the same...I haven't even heard her full name since she was born, except at her graduation ceremony last June!

I think it's great to have a nickname...And then be able to use your "formal" name, when you need it (or when the child is in trouble, which is the only time I heard my own formal name!).

I prefer more old fashioned names myself.

But out of the two you mentioned I'd have to say Ellarie.

Laney doens't sound quite right for a girl's full name. If you really like that then call her Elaina/Alaina and use Laney as a nickname. That way she has the choice to use Elaina/Alaina if she prefers it when she's older.

I love Ellarie. I don't care for Alaina. Laney is good though. Of the three I prefer Ellarie. Ellie for short. I wanted Elliott for my girl but again got out voted. ***sigh***

I like just Elle or Ella for the name, and you can still call her "Ellie" if you wanted. You'll have a tough time (and so will she - all her life) explaining to everyone how to spell and pronounce something like Ellarie.

I like the name Alaina just because. I have a niece named Luella and they call her Ella, so i'm always for any way for Ella as being a nickname. Those are some really great names by the way. I love being unusual as well. My daughters name is Graycerose. That was fun to come up with as well.

how would you pronounce Ellarie?
I like Laney on its own I think its a really pretty name
Ellarie is really nice too thats a difficult one, they're both really pretty but not weird so thats good unusual but not stupid. I think you should keep these 2 on your shortlist and pick one when you see your baby.

Ellarie Celery-Ha! if you call her that as a term of endearment, then the kids couldn't tease her now could they. Because it'd just remind her of her loving parents. I told that to my cousin who was skeptical of naming her child Hannah because you know Hannah banana, she realized that if they called her that at lovingly home then it would take the meanness out of for the little teasers.
Either are very pretty names, with cute nicknames.
