I tend to agree that women do think things out ahead of time more than men (ahem, more than me).
As a totally speculative evolutionary guess, taking care of the family is actually really complicated and planning is more necessary and has a better payoff, whereas fighting other men and catching dinner need not be planned months in advance and planning may not help much anyway.

I've got my xmas outfit all sorted too!!!
My do isn't until the 20th December but I think if I don't buy it now then when will I get chance to go looking for myself when I've got loads of xmas presents to buy and with all the extra drinking sessions I'll be doing will I be able to afford an outfit in December and I definatley want somehting new.
Men just don't think like that, or at least they can't admit it!!

I agree with Vixxie. Men think about what is important to them. You obviously think a Xmas outfit is important. I think not running out of coffee is important. Just different priorities.
As an aside, I too already have my Xmas outfit. It's what I wear every day. (Hey! Another thing off the 'to do' list...)

All this kind of psychology can be traced back to cave man days. Man hungry, man go kill something but women had to think much more about resources for the survival of the children and others so they had to plan ahead with food and other items such as clothing etc. Thats why your man will go hunt his at the last minute!

Not all women think ahead but we are very good at multi tasking so can probably do it better than men who are single minded and can only cope with the particular task in hand. Also women worry more about what people think so getting it right is important

Because we take pleasure in planning our xmas outfit. Its not such a big issue for the average man i don't think.

i think its because generally our lives are busy so that's why we think ahead because we have too. not sure if the Xmas outfit thing apply's tho,lol

I think this is the role which is best carried out by women, so men tend to leave it to the last minute because our tastes suck and we blame it on being hurried.

Women are more detail oriented, on average. Look to the evolutionary, ultimate, cause of behavior, for a generalization such as this.
