Possible blown head gasket.

With the old cars, you used to get a lot of white smoke / steam from the tailpipe when this happened. With modern cars, the catalytic converter processes this and you don't see anything unusual from the tailpipe.

Other signs of a blown head gasket. Unexplained overheating.

Examine all of your spark plugs. If you find one that is exceptionally clean, you have a blown head gasket. Coolant is getting into the combustion chamber. When that cylinder fires, the coolant is turned into steam, thus steam cleaning the spark plug.

Look for coolant in the oil.

try replacing the radiator cap. if not holding the right pressure, will loose pressure/water slowly.
