You divide the part into the whole and multiply by 100.

So:

500/1445=0.34602 (approx.)
.34602x100=34.602
so:
it would be about 35%

Amount/Total = Percentage/100

Amount = 500
Total = 1445


500/1445 = X/100

50000/1445 = X

X = 34.6%

divide: 500/1445=0.346
& means divided by 100. to convert to % just move the decimal 2 places to the right
.346=34.6%
