i have a court date next month and for the past few days i have been stressing so much. i got caught shioplifting, i cant afford a lawyer and i heard lawyers and try to get my type of case down to an infraction. i have talk to a few lawyers but they are so expensive, i was wondering if i dont get a lawyer to represent me when i go to court what are the chances of me lowering the fee/fines. After i plead guilty will the judge give me time to talk and say what i ahve to say or no. can i bargain with the judge or will he give me a bargain. is there anyway in the future i can get this removed from my record with out a lawyer, if so, or no, how..etc .

As a previous HR person, I can tell you there are several different sites and agencies that provide that service.

Depending on whether they are checking credit (social security number) or criminal (driver's license number) or employment/residential (whatever the employer/landlord wants usually driver's license numbers and correct addresses.

There are some sites and other background check info. listed on the web page in resources.

You need a lawyer. Being a lawyer earns you special prividges sometimes in a courtroom. You don't have bargaining power without a lawyer who knows his way around the courtroom. If you are under 18, then don't worry about it because anything you do as a minor is expunged when you turn 18. They seal it up and it can't be seen as part of your record except under very special circumstances. If you are over 18.....just fork up the money and take care of it.

if ur over 18 and its not a felony charge it can be expundged, ask ur court appointed lawyer to give u the paper work AFTER this case is done, u will not have the chance to talk they will state ur crime and the judge will ask ur plead thats all u get. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!

I sure as heck hope you can just talk to the judge since it doesn't sound like you're sorry at all -- only sorry you got caught.
