I was doing some research and found that the ABS piping is cheaper then white PVC. Almost all my drains are black ABS piping. Is this bad???? Does ABS have any known defects....

I will agree that most ABS pipes are thinner, and if used as drainage only should not create a problem. The pipe is cheaper for the contractor to install, saving them money.

Most ABS pipes are sold in house trailer's. As long as you use them only for drainage there should be no problem, unless they are exposed to sunlight.

ABS and PVC both will break down to the sun's rays. So no matter which one you use, do not expose to the sun.

Everything should be fine.

How old is the house? Are you sure it's the pipes and not some insulation around them? Years ago there was something called Orangeburg that they used in sewage lines. It lasted a long time, but has worn out now. If you have this type plumbing at this house, then I would run, not walk, away. It could be very expensive to have it repaired. Check with an house inspector to see what you have and if there is a problem.

As long as they are drain pipes only and not used for incoming (potable) water it shouldn't be of any concern.
