GOD means Grand Old Deity, or the first thing that was worshipped by man. I love the answers that you get when asking religious questions, similiar to the one you got first here which tells you Bible and be sure to read the Bible. Every Christian always makes sure that you are told that whatever is about religion is in the Bible, it is the written scapegoat for their failures, as God is the scapegoat for failures and successes, but mostly failures. How often have you heard the phrase "it was God's will" or "thank you Jesus". When you put the onus on God you take it off yourself so you have no worry about being blamed for anything because "it was God's will". Anyway, thanks for listening or reading.....

You have a couple of serious misconceptions. For one human beings are not faithful to God. God is faithful to human beings. Second, we did not "domesticate" God. He is the creator and sustainer of reality, of which you are a mere contingent being. God's existence is necessary for our existence. Third, flowing from the previous, God is the supreme being, not some sort of figment of our fertile imaginations. God is not so supreme that He is not personal and loving, but don't forget He is holy and just and demands payment for sins against Him.

It's all due to early misprints as any fisherman will tell you. . it should have read 'In the beginning was the word, and the word was Cod'
All the rest stems from that.
