It will take a while if both bones are broken as you don't have the support of the other bone while one is healing.
Try eating foods rich in iron (red meat, green vegetables) and rich in calcium (dairy products, green vegetables) and vitamin C (fruit) and vitamin D (fish (salmon, tuna), eggs and exposure to sunlight).
The vitamin C will help your soft tissues heal, the iron will help your blood and along with the vitamin C will help reconstruct any soft tissue damage round the injury site. A good blood supply will help with healing.
The vitamin D helps with the absorption of calcium from food and it's the calcium that will help with bone re-growth.
Avoid drinking too many fizzy drinks such as Coke etc... as the phosphoric acid in them strips away calcium and so will hinder the healing process.
Other than that, a little gentle weight bearing (part-weight bearing if you're on crutches) every now and then will help stimulate bone growth, just don't overdo it as it will cause more damage. You will also need to try and keep up muscle strength in that leg as the muscles will start to weaken and waste due to disuse.

Hi some peoples bones do not heal and when they do they dont heal correctly. Are you due to see the orthopeadic consultant again ? If not i advise you to make an appt with the secretary. You need to sort this problem out as in years to come you will have alot off problems with your leg, pain on going, swelling, arthritis.Eating a well balanced diet including alot off diary helps with the healing process. Please dont leave it thou, get in contact with the secretary asap about this. The consultant will see you again and see what he will and can do for you, possible pinning on the bones is likely.Good Luck

Sorry to hear you are still in pain.Try eating more green vegetable and greens and increase your calcium intake. Has your doctor given you an exercise regime to build up the strength in your legs.
Hope that things soon improve for you especially the healing and the pain.

Maybe you should eat more of your omega 3,6,9s, and take stuff like cod liver, glucosamine and flax seed oil, drink plenty milk, etc.
Also, are you getting enough selenium, iron and folic acid?
I'm sure you've heard all of that before, and I'm not a medic, but these things take time. I had a burst cysts on a nerve in my wrist, sounds trivial enough but it took a good year for me getting the feeling back in my fingers. Definitely get a second opinion from the specialists though?
All the best :o)

I had a friend who kept re-breaking her foot and need some extra stuff in that shoe, you may need something else to help it heal. If you haven't been back to the doctor in six months what are you waiting for? Go see someone about this, it could get worse.

How old are you? Any other abnormal health conditions? In the meantime, STOP drinking any fizzy liquids (pop, club soda, beer). Anything with carbonation robs your bones of calcium. You really should see a specialist. You may have osteoperosis or other bone disease. please call your doc soon.
