I just moved to the Tampa area, and am trying to find a new place, but no one will take my pit. I've had him for 6 years, and don't want to get rid of him. Does anyone know of any apartments that will let us move in??? Please help

You will probably need to skip renting an apartment and check with a real estate agent on finding a "private rental" that is either a house, condo, duplex, or townhouse owned and managed by an individual, rather than a management company as most apartment properties use. Management companies have policies regarding pets that must be followed. A "private" landlord can make the decision to allow your pet on his/her own without having to follow a management companies policies. However, they may be required to follow a Homeowner's Association (HOA) policies regarding pets. It depends on where you are trying to rent. Some places have HOA's and some do not.

I would suggest finding a real estate agent or relocation specialist that can help you find rental properties that will allow dogs such as yours. Unfortunately, many people consider pitbulls to be an "agressive breed" so it can be very tough to find rentals allowing them. You could spend a lot of time looking for such, which is why I suggest using a licensed agent to help you. They often will get paid by whomever you rent from so their services to you are free, if you're worried about having to pay an agent for help.

Buy a home and take the risks yourself.

Landlords don't want to rent to people with some dogs, (even if the landlord knows and likes your dog), because his liability insurance does not cover that breed. If, by chance, your dog did bite someone, the landlord's insurance won't cover it, and the landlord will get sued. That's a big responsibility for you to ask of him.
