Yes, Glass should be the cheapest product you should buy. It is made of Silicate which is sand. They heat the the sand up using special vessels to remove any impurities from the Silicate, then the glass is formed at a different temperature after removing all impurities from the sand.

It's a special type of sand called silica sand. When it's heated to a temp. of 800 to 1500 degrees farenheit, it melts into a transparent substance. Once cooled, it has become glass.


PS: If you live near the old White Sands Nuclear Proving Grounds you can visit the old nuclear test craters, and see how heat from the nuclear blasts turned the desert floor into a sheet of glass.(it's pretty cool)

That's basically how glass is made... Sand (of a special type) is heated until it melts to form glass. After the Atomic bomb tests, desert sand on the site of the explosion was found to have been turned to glass.

Yes. That is the only way glass is ever made. Sand is superheated and glass results. Lightning strikes on the beach leave amazing glass "sculptures" behind. I'm sure you can find pics of them on the internet
