Yes it is possible. I use to own a 2005 shadow 750. You need a 2 inch hole saw looks like a cup with saw blades. attach it to your favorite power drill hold on to it firm work it in there and the end silencers will come out! do this to both exhaust pipes:) you will have a nice rumble. No carb adjustments needed! you wont wake up the dead but it will sound like a motorcycle should. If you want it louder then maybe look into after market pipes but in my honest opnion the stock pipes work just fine they do have a equalizer pipe between the mufflers gives it good mid range power and low end. Lets be real if you get after market exhaust your just paying for the noise and you will more then likely lose a few HP in the mid if you switch. Do the hole saw mod best bang for you buck....

Hi, In over 20 years of being a cycle mechanic I have only seen ONE occasion when modifications to a stock exhaust system sound good. When people drill/punch/holesaw into the back of their mufflers the result is usually a blatty, raspy, pipy sound that is far from the desired low rumble most people like. That even goes for many of the aftermarket pipes. If you want to talk with others about what they have done, go into Yahoo groups and search for a Honda shadow club, you get all the info you need.

I have an 05 Honda Aero ,I took it to the place I bought it and had pipes put on it, when I bought it they said I had to wait at least 600miles before putting loud pipes on ,has something to do with breaking in period , I got the Vance& Hines Straight Shot ,They have to rejet the carb when changing pipes ,So unless your mechanically inclined your better off paying them to do it ,It cost me about 1000 bucks altogether pipes and Labor , You cant beat the results , gives it the rumble sound and makes the bike faster , Its not so loud its annoying but loud enough that people know your there , Your gonna be pleased with your bike , Stay safe and Wave

what about motorcycle gals? I heard a Shadow 750 at the dealer with a set of Vance & Hines pipes - if you closed your eyes you'd swear it was a Harley. Loud, but not obnoxious.

Loud pipes don't save lives, all they do is annoy the people who are in a position to pass restrictive laws. If you really want loud, though, hacksaw them just forward of the swing arm pivot. Any more pipe than that will muffle the sound.

you're about to open up a can of worms..... over time, your baffels will open up and sound deeper. Anything that you do to the exhaust will require you to re-jet your carbs. I've seen people spray water into the pipes to flatten out the fiberglass padding in the baffels..... but, that should never be done. (in my opinion)
